Nyonya Needlework

Intro

Nyonya Needlework is a personal cultural initiative by Angeline Kong, a 6th-generation Peranakan from Singapore, dedicated to preserving the intricate art of Peranakan beadwork. Through handcrafted pieces, workshops, and storytelling, she invites others to discover the beauty and heritage of this timeless craft.

Challenge

As a cultural topic with limited modern exposure, the challenge was to present Angeline’s work in a way that feels engaging and accessible, without losing the tradition’s depth, elegance, or personal meaning.

Solution

We developed a story-driven website that gently guides visitors through Angeline’s journey, supported by original photography and a Peranakan-inspired design. The layout brings her passion to life and makes it easy for users to explore her beadwork, learn about the culture, and join her in keeping this heritage alive.
